Comic Book Boycott of the Day: Conservative group One Million Moms is at it again, directing its not-quite-a-million members to boycott Marvel and DC Comics due to recent announcements from both companies about their futures of their gay characters.
DC has revealed that a major character is soon going to come out as gay, while Marvel announced the engagement of superhero Northstar to his boyfriend, Kyle.
These events don’t sit will with One Million Moms, whose anti-gay agenda has also led them to protest the wedding of Archie Comics’ first gay character, Kevin Keller.
“Children desire to be just like superheroes,” said the group in a statement. “Children mimic superhero actions and even dress up in costumes to resemble these characters as much as possible. Can you imagine little boys saying, ‘I want a boyfriend or husband like X-Men?’”
The statement goes on to accuse the publishers of trying to “indoctrate [sic] impressionable young minds.”
Marvel and DC have yet to respond to the homophobic comments.

I should hope so
This whole “omg a male DC main character will be gay oh lord have mercy on popular media” is hilarious, DC just simply drops this little fact via twitter that one of them is going to come out and the rest of this publicity is all fucking fan-made. It’s like when JK Rowling answered a question like “are there any gay characters in HP?” and she was like “hm, Dumbledore is”, and then you had Harry Potter fans coming out of the woodwork thinking this argument was legitimate:
aw, but he didn’t seem gay. Why does she even need to mention it? Now that she mentioned it, it sort of ruined his character. It wasn’t necessary, it’s just a publicity stunt, etc. I don’t hate gay people, but like, if it isn’t a big deal, why did she even have to say it??
as usual, the only people who care are the people who are against it.
ps, fuck yeah Northstar, Canada REPRESENT.

so basically there’s this one evil firebender who goes around killing people to make the Legend of Korra plot advance
… Imagine if there was though? That would be a cool plot point to introduce an interesting character, though it would fuck up the theme of LoK a bit.
I just think that three firebender attacks is a little convenient. I think it’s intentional.
